Message from the Archdiocese

Anne McEvoy, Youth Ministry Coordinator at the Archdiocese, is passing on a request from  a French student called Violette who will be studying in Edinburgh from Sep until Feb 2015. She is looking for accommodation with other Christian/Catholic Young People/ Family for that time. Please see her message below and contact Anne if you can help

anne.mcevoy@staned.org.uk

Dear Claire,

My name is Violette. I am French, and will study at Ediunburg from September 2014 to February 2015.

I am a Catholic, and would be serving in a parish with other young people. (Like mass animation, prayer group organization, church maintenance …)

For me, it is very important to find, during my studies aboard, a community that shares my faith, to live time and sharing services around Christ!

I am also looking for a home. If you know some young Christians looking for a roommate, can you send them my details (or give me theirs)?

In France, we have, in many cities, parishes which offer accommodation for young people who are in service to the church. Did you also this kind of offer?

Thank you very much in advance for your answer.

Fraternally,

In Christ,

Violette

Gap Year Experience 2014-15

A message from the ArchDiocese about Gap Year opportunities …

Dear Father, Sister and Friend,

Please see the message below from Sr Bernadette Cassidy, a member of the Salesian Community in Glasgow re Volunteer Opportunities that are on offer from UR Space in Glasgow in the coming year.

I would be very grateful if you would pass it on to anyone you think might be interested or would benefit from it.

Many thanks.

God bless.

Anne

Anne McEvoy

Youth Ministry Coordinator

Archdiocese of St Andrews and Edinburgh

We have just finished a very successful first year of an exciting project that offers amazing opportunities for young people. We have a very full diary for the coming academic year and still have a couple of spaces for gap year volunteers.

I would be very grateful if you could advertise this opportunity to the young people of your diocese. You may know of some young people you work with who would really benefit from this. As the exam results come out it could be the ideal opportunity for someone who did not manage to get the course they had hoped for.

Please find a summary below of what being a volunteer for the project would entail.

I am also attaching a poster for the UR Space project which has contact details for anyone who requires more information.

Many thanks for helping us to share this opportunity with the young people of Scotland,

Sr Bernadette Cassidy FMA

Evangelisation Certificate

A message from the ArchDiocese …

Dear Fathers and Friends,

I am sending out forward notice of a new programme we will be offering after the Summer break focusing on Evangelisation.

We hope that this will support all the efforts in our parishes to spread the Good News.

It will be particularly suitable for parish catechists, RCIA leaders, Parish Council Members and others who are interested in encouraging new life and new leadership in the Church.

Please bring this to the attention of your parishes.

Many thanks and best wishes,

Patricia

A Further Message from Father David

Dear Fr George and Everyone at St. Andrew’s,

It was good being with you all; thank you so much for the as always warm welcome and generous donations, the £1000 cheque from the parish plus quite a few others that were given to me. Donations of this kind make an enormous difference to the wellbeing of the neediest in Zambia.

Whilst I’m keeping as much as possible to take back with me I had an urgent request from my SVP special helpers to send help for 3 girls doing their final exam year at secondary school who had been sent away from school because of non-payment of fees and one of them had turned to prostitution as the only means to find the money. I have sent help for those 3 as for other several other urgent cases that I know the SVP have to deal with, but that was just a small part of what you gave me.

I should be returning to Zambia the last week of July, but have been offered the possibility of the removal of the cataract in my eye, having to report for the examination on 6th August and am sure that our powers of be would prefer I delay going back in order to get that done. I will keep you up with the news once I return to Zambia.

Thanking you all once more for your on-going very precious support and asking the Lord to bless and be with you who so generously share his compassionate concern for the poor.

                Yours sincerely,

Father David
