Changes to Newsletter Production

old-41945_640Dear Fellow-Parishioners;

Father Patrick has asked us to help him transform the printed newsletter into a more direct pastoral channel between himself and the parish.  He will therefore be taking over compiling the newsletter from this week coming (30th August).  Printing will continue to happen at the cathedral as it has for some time now.

There may be some transitional bumps as we get a new workflow established for which we ask your forgiveness in advance.

We will be continuing to publish all the newsletter items and more on the website.  A PDF of each week’s printed newsletter should remain accessible on the website.  I will update the instructions for contributors to both the newsletter and the website as soon as I get time.  For the interim, send newsletter items to Kay at the Cathedral email address

cathedralhouse@stmaryscathedral.co.uk

There remains only the task of standing down the newsletter team (Amaka Idigo, Sheila & John Hannah, Mike Cogswell and Patricia Archutowski) and thanking them for their service.

As we prepare to celebrate the first worldwide day of prayer for the Care of Creation on Tuesday the 1st September, I am sending you an invitation to take part in a forthcoming event.

This is a joint initiative of four Churches.

Please pass this information onto parishes and groups who may be interested.

SPEAK OUT campaign (Message from Patricia Carroll Archdiocese)

Dear Friends,

The Archbishop has asked me to make you aware of the SPEAK OUT campaign being organised by the Church of Scotland, and to enable parishioners to take part in it if they wish.
The link for this is:
www.churchofscotland.org.uk?/speak_out

Could you think of ways to bring this to the attention of the groups you work with?

Best wishes and many thanks,
Patricia

World Youth Day (Patricia Carroll Archdiocese)

Dear Friends,

I am attaching the poster to advertise the arrangements for the WYD in Krakow.

There will be thirty five places for young people from the Archdiocese.

Archbishop Leo will journey with the young people by coach.

The coach will be with the group for the whole time so that transportation is easy.

This is a great opportunity to visit sites of significance including the town where Pope John Paul II lived and also for young people to get to know their Archbishop.

There will be a learning package for all parishes and schools in the Autumn, which will help the diocese to tune into themes of mercy.

Please encourage and support young people to take part.

Parishes can choose to partially fund young people and also organise fund raising initiatives.

Best wishes and many thanks,

Patricia
