Prayers for the sick and housebound

It has been some time since we had an accurate list of our Parishioners who are unwell, in hospital or confined to their home. We would like to publish the names of those who want to receive the prayers of the Parish in order that we can support them, therefore, if you know of anyone who wishes to be included, please contact the parish office and we will collate the names for printing from next week. Similarly, if you know of someone who would like a visit from a priest, do let us know.

An Appeal from Fr Victor

As you know fr Victor has given many years’ service to our Archdiocese and to our parish before returning to Nigeria last year. On his return, as well as his curial responsilities, Fr Victor was made parish priest of a new parish near where he works. The parish is so new, in fact, that the church is yet to be properly built. With this in mind, and with the agreement of the parish council, there will be a second collection this week to help Fr Victor as he aims to build his parish church. Many thanks in anticipation for your generosity.

Parish Office Appeal

Thank you to those who have provided their details, but we still don’t seem to have covered all the groups/activities/ leaders. This information is quite important as we simply don’t have it. Please preferably email the office to give them the following details: Your name, group/activity name, tel. number, email address and what day & time you meet if that’s appropriate. If you don’t have email, please call us with the information. All your details will be kept confidential and will only be used by Cathedral staff in the running of the parish. Many thanks.

Bible Alive

The September Edition of “Bible Alive” (priced £2.50) is now on sale at the back of the Church. It contains a meditation for every day of August based on the readings at daily Mass. This is a good resource for those of you who might want to deepen in your spiritual life – and is definitely worth a try. The August edition of Word Alive – which contains a printed version of all the readings for daily Mass throughout the month – is also available priced £1.50 (cheap – Ed).

Daily Mass

Fr Derek has decided this week that he will no longer celebrate daily Mass in St Andrew’s. With this in mind, and delaying any decision about the provision of Mass during the week until Fr Patrick’s return, the only services taking place in St Andrew’s until further notice will be the Sunday Masses advertised. We are generally quite a mobile people, and so, in the meantime, why not pop along to the Cathedral for Mass at either 10am or 12.45pm?

Fr Patrick’s Silver Jubilee – THIS FRIDAY

Fr Patrick’s Silver Jubilee Celebrations will take place in the Cathedral this Friday with Mass at 7pm. The whole parish is invited, and it would be great to see as many of you there to give thanks to God for his service and to celebrate with him. Mass will begin at 7pm, followed by a buffet reception in the hall. We will present to him the proceeds from the second collection last week – thank you very much for your generosity in this regard – and I look forward to seeing you all on Friday.
