International Students – host families

Academic Families is an agency looking after international students who attend Scottish boarding schools. Students stay in boarding school throughout the term, however during the leave out weekends (2 per term) and half terms many choose not to go home to their home countries but stay with the local host families. The agency is now seeking host families for students coming from Mexico and Spain who are Catholic and would like to attend Mass with their host families. Expenses are reimbursed. Comings & Goings

We welcome this week Father Alberto Frigerio, a priest of the diocese of Milan, who is here to study for the Masters in Neuroscience at the University of Edinburgh over the coming academic year.  Fr. Alberto will be resident at the cathedral during this time.  Please give him your usual warm welcome.

As Fr. Alberto arrives, we bid farewell to Fr. Christophe who has been an enormous help over the past few months.  Fr. Christophe will return to his home diocese of Metz on 5th September, where he will take up his  appointment as Chancellor of the diocese and professor of eschatology in the local seminary.  We wish Fr. Christophe all the very best, and with great gratitude, keep him in our prayers as he begins his new apostolate.

Sacramental Initiation

All with children in P3 and P4 next year, please pick up a copy of the programme for sacramental initiation, as well as registration forms, which are available at the back of the Church. The first all-important event in this programme will be the initial parents’ meetings which will be on Thursday 7th September for parents of P3, and Thursday 14th September for P4, both at 6.30pm in the Cathedral Hall. Please put these dates in your diaries and also pass this on to any parents who have children in these classes but who may not be here.
