Proposals for New Road Layout Outside the Cathedral – Just for Information
If you wrote to our any of our elected representatives or went to any of the consultation events you will know that the Council have slightly adapted their plans. However, our central concerns remain unresolved, namely an assurance that funeral and wedding corteges can have access to the Cathedral steps and, perhaps more importantly, a commitment that sufficient disabled parking spaces will be provided around the Cathedral. Once again if you wish to write to express you opinions the most effective way is to visit this site online: www.consultationhub.edinburgh.gov.uk
Carol Singing at Victoria Manor on Saturday 16th December
The Cathedral Parish Council have organised Carol Singing at the Victoria Manor Care Home on 16th Dec and we need lots of volunteers. This is a really lovely way to spread some Christmas joy and is much appreciated by the residents. If you could spare a couple of hours please call 07943 691517 for more details.
Archbishop’s Youth Initiative
The Archbishop is launching a new youth initiative for the whole Archdiocese this coming Advent. On each of the Fridays of Advent, he will gather with the youth of the diocese here at the Cathedral at 7pm to offer catechesis, prayer and social time together. It promises to be a great new way of meeting Christ and meeting others interested in their faith, so if you’re between 16-29, keep your Fridays in Advent free.
New Movements Information Day at the Cathedral
Today the Cathedral is hosting an information day for some of the Movements active in the Diocese. Representatives from 7 new movements (New Dawn, The Neo-Catechumenate, Couples for Christ, Faith, Focolare, Comunione & Liberazione & Schoenstatt) will be in the Cathedral Hall all day to showcase their wonderful apostolate in the Church and to answer any questions.
Christmas Boxes for the Homeless
Maureen McGregor is once again this year appealing for packed Christmas shoe boxes to be given to the young homeless in Edinburgh. The Boxes, which have to be handed in by Sunday 10th December, are for many young homeless the only gift they will receive and many of them shed tears of gratitude on receiving them on Christmas Day. The boxes wrapped with Christmas paper, lid and box separately, should be suitable for young persons from 16 to 25 years old and should be marked as suitable for male or female. Please do not include razors, aerosols or money. Warm gloves, socks, soap, toothbrushes, combs, deodorant, notebooks, pens, crosswords, hand cream, plasters and chocolate are all very welcome. A list will be available at the back of church. Contact Maureen on: 0131 337 6346; Mobile:07720783442, or email: mcgregor885@btinternet.com.

And then at 7pm here in Ravelston we will have a double celebration of St. Andrew and also of Ian and Maureen McGregor who will be celebrating their 60th Wedding Anniversary.
