Katherine, family and friends are running the Edinburgh 10km on Saturday 26th May for Katherine’s daughter Anya Madeline Behl, 9 months old. She has an extremely rare neurological condition called Alternating Hemiplegia of Childhood (1 in a million and the second child in Scotland). There is currently no cure, nor any effective treatment and as it is so rare there are limited funds for research. They are trying to raise awareness and funds for this. The future is uncertain, but you can help. Any donation, large or small, would be greatly appreciated. You can read more about Anya’s condition on their just giving page: https://tinyurl.com/ycgf5t4z

As the Archbishop has requested, we will be having a meeting to discuss his proposals for Parish Restructuring this afternoon at 3pm in the Parish rooms. All parishioners of St. Andrews are welcome to attend. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the proposals. After the meeting I will then pen a letter to the Archbishop summarising the feeling of the meeting. Any individual parishioner is also welcome to write to the Archbishop expressing their own opinion.
The Aged and Infirm Clergy Fund of the Archdiocese provides support for our 25 retired priests with one of the main sources of income for the fund being the amounts received from the Special Collections. The next collection will be taken up this weekend, 26th/27th May. Please remember to pray for those priests who have served us well and be as generous as you can. Gift Aid envelopes are available at the back of the church. If you are a UK taxpayer, and would like to gift aid your donation, please put your donation into one of these envelopes and complete the details on the back before putting it into the collection basket. For those of you using weekly envelopes, you may alternatively use the envelope in your set that is marked for the Aged and Infirm Clergy Fund for your donation. As I am sure you know, gift aiding your donation will uplift the amount you give by a further 25% at no additional cost to you.
Please also keep in your prayers Patrick Harrison from the Cathedral who will be ordained to the Diaconate on Wednesday 6th June in Rome. Twenty Five of us are going out to Rome to support Patrick on this wonderful occasion.
Please keep our P4 children in your prayers this week as they prepare to make their First Holy Communions next Saturday.
Next week Fr. Jaimie McMorrin will arrive in the parish. He was ordained at the Cathedral two years ago and has been in Falkirk since then. I know you will do everything you can to make him welcome here.
As you know this is, sadly, Fr. Nick’s last week in the parish. Our loss is Galashiels’ gain, but he will be sorely missed. Please keep him in your prayers as he begins this new phase in his life. In due course we will invite him back for a proper farewell celebration.
