The Schoenstatt Sisters

The Schoenstatt Sisters (in Campsie Glen) are organising their “Pilgrim Mather Rally” on Sunday 1st July. Mass at 3.30pm will be followed by a procession to the Shrine. It will be a lovely occasion and would make a great family day out. Why not think about it?

Faith Summertime Youth Camp

Forms are now available for the annual Summer Camp at Ampleforth Abbey from 16-19 July for our 9 to 15 year olds. It promises to be a great few days of fun as well as learning more about the faith. The price of £160 includes transport to Ampleforth, full board, all activities and entrance to Flamingo Land Theme Park. See Fr Patrick or Fr Nick for more details.

Catholic App

The Catholic App is your smart Catholic companion that helps you to find Mass & Confession with a single tap. You can now download the updated version for iPhone/iPad or Android smartphone/tablet by searching for “The Catholic App Musemantik” in the Apple App Store or Google Play.

Monastic Experience Weekend

The monks of Pluscarden Abbey are offering a special opportunity to see at first-hand what monastic life is about during the weekend Friday 3rd to Monday 6th August 2018. There will be no charge for the weekend. The invitation is extended to single young men, Catholics who practice their faith, aged 18-35. Anyone interested is invited to contact Fr Benedict at novicemaster@pluscardenabbey.org

Rosary Beads Wanted

The Apostleship of the Sea, the Church’s maritime welfare agency, is often asked for Rosary beads by the sailors they meet. Do you have a spare set of beads? Please will you consider donating them to the sailors. So why not look out those many sets of Rosary beads you have hanging around and donate them to a worthy cause? You can do so – by handing them in to Fr. Jamie this weekend.

Young Adults Group BBQ

So as not to lose contact with everyone over the summer there will be a Young Adults Group BBQ on the evening of Friday 29th June here in the grounds of St Andrew’s with Mass beforehand at 6:30pm. This will be a great way to celebrate the Solemnity of Ss Peter & Paul and to welcome Fr Jamie McMorrin to the parish.

Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul

Please note that Friday is the Solemnity of Sts. Peter and Paul. It is a Holy Day of Obligation which means that all Catholics are obliged to attend Mass on Friday. Mass here at Ravelston will be at 9.30am. Masses at the Cathedral will be at 8am, 10am, 12.45pm and 7.30pm.

Volunteer Statistics

There were some questions about this at the AGM for which I didn’t have fresh figures to answer

Label Number Comment
Total Volunteers 80
Active Volunteers 73
Active Volunteer with PVG 34
Active Volunteers with PVG and training 27
Active Volunteers with PVG and no training 7 It’s possible that a few more people have had training and not let me know so this number might be smaller
Active Volunteers in regulated roles without PVG 0 Preventing this is the point of the exercise

Bear in mind also that some volunteers occupy multiple roles, some regulated, some not.

Thanks
