Safeguarding Audit
The Archdiocese of St Andrews & Edinburgh has been chosen to be reviewed by an external audit team from the Social Care Institute for Excellence (SCIE)/Children in Scotland from 26 – 28 March 2019. The audit team would like to hear from anyone who has disclosed abuse, shared concerns of unsafe people or practice and also from survivors of non-recent Church-related abuse, their families and friends. For further information and contact details for the SCIE see notice at the back of the church.
Key-Role Volunteers Needed
Thank you to everyone who have signed up to help with the Children’s Catechism Classes in September! We are also in need of some key-role volunteers for small, but extremely important, tasks in the parish, such as cleaning the church, helping with teas & coffees on Sundays, washing and ironing the Sacred Linens and arranging flowers for the church. The more volunteers we have; the easier it is to job-share. If you would be willing to help, please speak to Fr Jamie or Mary Buchan before or after mass. Thank you – we would love to hear from you!
Young Adults Group – Servant of God Fr Willie Doyle, S.J. – 7.30pm
The Young Adults’ Group will meet in the Cathedral Café this Tuesday at 7.30pm, after Stations of the Cross. This week’s guest speaker is Fr Ninian Doohan, who will speak to us about Fr Willie Doyle, an Irish Jesuit priest who was killed during the First World War.
Parish Outing to Scone Palace – Sat 11th May
Tickets for the Trip to Scone Palace on Saturday 11thMay (priced at £20 for adults and only £5 for children) including lunch will be on sale after Mass today. Why not come and join us for what will be a lovely community day out!! Please see Mary Buchan if you would like tickets.
Gift Aid
With the start of a new tax year in less than a fortnight, I am pleased to tell you that for those of you already registered for the weekly gift aid envelopes, your new sets for the 2019/20 tax year are now available for collection from the back of the Cathedral after mass. If you are a UK taxpayer and have not already signed up for gift aid in the parish, now is a very opportune moment to do so! Gift aid is a government initiative whereby amounts you donate to the Cathedral can be uplifted by a further 25% at no additional cost to you. So, if you give £10 today and gift aid your donation, the Cathedral will receive £12.50, ie: £10 from you, plus an additional £2.50 from the Government. Gift aid registration forms will be available after mass today for you to complete and return. To help us keep a record of your donations, you can either request a set of weekly donation envelopes to use in the offertory collections, or, you could set up a standing order with the Cathedral. Over the next two weeks, we will have registration forms, new envelope sets and standing order sign-up sheets available after mass. So, if you haven’t already done so, why don’t you sign up today?
Stations of the Cross
Remember, that every week during Lent there will be Stations of the Cross at 7pm in Ravelston.
