Prayers for the Dead during November
It is a beautiful Catholic tradition to pray for our deceased family members and friends during the month of November. If you would like to have a Mass offered for the repose of their souls, Mass Intention envelopes are available at the back of the church. We will also have a special ‘Book of Remembrance’ which will be placed before the altar. If you’d like your loved ones to be remembered in this way, write down their names on the purple sheets available at the back and hand them in to the sacristy or the parish office.
Praise & Worship Adoration at St Albert’s Chaplaincy
All in their 20’s or 30’s are invited to a monthly candlelit Holy Hour with sung contemporary Christian music and moments of silence at St Albert’s Chapel, George Square Lane, EH8 9LD. The Holy Hour starts at 7.30pm and will be held on the 31st October, 21st November and 12th December.
Scripture Reflection Day at Gillis on the 16th November

Quiz Night – This Friday in the Cathedral Hall, 7pm-11pm
Together with the Cambodia Project, the Cathedral is raising funds to help support the poorest people of Cambodia by organizing a Quiz Night. So please brush up your general knowledge, message all your family and friends, put a team together (or join up with others) and come along for a fun evening for a worthy cause.

Register Your Child for St Mary’s RC Primary School
If your child will be five years of age before 28th February 2021, he or she is due to start school in August 2020. Parents who wish to enroll their child in St Mary’s RC Primary are asked to attend (if possible) the drop-in enrolment sessions at 9.45am-10.30am on Wednesday the 6th November and Thursday the 7th November. You will need to bring your child’s birth certificate, baptismal certificate, council tax letter/book, a utility bill (gas, electricity, passport) and your passport/work permit/visa if you are not from the EEC. Meeting for Readers and Communion Ministers: 4th and 11th November
For some time, we have been in need of new volunteers to read at Mass and to assist in the distribution of Holy Communion. It is also too long since training and formation have been offered for those who have generously volunteered in this way for many years. So, there will be a meeting for all those who are involved (or who would like to be involved) in these ministries on Monday 4thNovember (Communion Ministers) and Monday 11th November (Readers), both at 7.30pm in the parish rooms. Following this training, new Readers and Communion Ministers will be formally commissioned at Mass on Sunday 17thNovember.
Young Adults Group – Tuesday 7pm
This week Fr. Jamie will be leading the discussion at the Young Adults Group on the theme of “The Eucharist as Sacrifice”. Starting as usual at 7pm in the Cathedral Café. All under 35’s welcome.
New Parish Youth Group – Starting Tonight
The new parish Junior Youth Group (for p4-P7) will start today (Sunday) here in Ravelston. It begins at 6pm and runs until 7.30pm and is supervised by a team of trained Youth Leaders who have all been registered and PVG’d. Parents please encourage your kids to come along – to learn a bit about the faith and to have fun with other kids.
Big Clean – Saturday 16th November
Our annual BIG Clean of the Church and the Parish Rooms is due on Sat 16th November between 10am & 5pm. Please make every effort to come along and join the fun – just sign up stating a time slot that suits you. Sign-up sheets are at the rear of the church. Thank you!

Solemnity of All Saints – This Friday
Please remember that we on Friday will celebrate the Solemnity of All Saints, which is a Holy Day of Obligation – which means that all Catholics are obliged to come to Mass on Friday. There will be Mass in the Cathedral at 8am, 10am, 12.45pm, 6pm (Polish) and 7.30pm and here in Ravelston at 9.30am and 6.15pm (Extraordinary Form)
